We left home Friday afternoon. The drive over was beautiful. There were lightning storms that surrounded us the entire way… what a show! Somehow we managed to stay out of the storms though. I think one of our favorite things to do is go on long road trips with each other. It’s so nice to be able to talk and listen to music. Even after so many years, we still learn something new about each other every trip we take. Alyssa was very anxious to get there, so she tried sleeping most of the way to pass time. We arrived at my sister’s around midnight. Zzzzz…..
Everyone one woke up bright and early Saturday morning. My sister made the guys (Dan, My Dad and her husband, Casey) breakfast before their walleye fishing trip. They went and picked my dad up and hit the water before 8:00am. The three of them had a great time… They caught 8 Fish total. I was so proud to hear that Dan caught the biggest!! While they were out having their fun; Me, My Mom, Heidi and the kids went to “town” (Colville, WA). We stopped at the farmer’s market then hit a great yard sale. All together we spent about $64 and drove away with the back of my truck packed. The man that was having the yard sale was cracking up at how excited we were. We couldn’t wait to tell our guys about the great deals we got. We met them on the beach of Lake Roosevelt/Columbia River a little after 2pm. The weather was cloudy with occasional breaks of sun. It was still really hot. All of the kids were getting along so well. They started playing Lost and made a really cool fort.
After the river we all went back to my sister’s house and had a BBQ. Dan and I challenged my mom and dad to a game of Horse Shoes, although it was a close game… We still won!! Then we played my sister and her husband and won that game too!! We are the Champions!
Sunday we all got up and got ready to go to my parent’s house for a big fish fry and family pictures. My brother was there with his family and my grandpa and Carol as well. The food turned out great… my mom knows how to fry some good walleye!!
Sweet Alyssa...
Grandpa and Grandma (my mom and dad) with all of their grandkids.
The next morning we had to get up pretty early to have lunch in Spokane. We stopped at a Sushi place called Raw then hit the road. It was nice to take the break in our 6 hour adventure back home. We also stopped at the scenery spot in Vantage (to see the wild horses display), something we’ve never done before. It’s one of those things you kind of take advantage of. We have driven by it so many times and never even thought about stopping. It was a beautiful day for it too. Not a cloud in the sky and the water was nice and calm.
The weekend went by way to fast but we still had a great time. I really wish that we could make it over more often.
